Dilukshi's love for nature blossomed upon her move to Australia. Canberra's parks, gardens, and bushlands became her foraging playground. Armed with a keen eye and a basket, she would return from her walks with a treasure trove of rocks, branches, and flowers. These natural finds often found their way onto her mantlepiece or as centerpieces for her tablescapes. This passion for nature and design naturally led her to create Tablescape Narratives, a book celebrating the talent of Sri Lankan and Australian artisans and showcasing the beauty of their creations in stunning table settings.

Dilukshi Senanayake read Biology at the College of Wooster (Ohio) and holds an MSc. in Biological Crop Protection from Wye College (University of London). Her graduate studies and ensuing career took her across the world. Dilukshi eventually settled in Australia to raise her family, while advancing her career at the University of Sydney.

Her love of nature and art was revitalised in the sweeping bushlands and parks in Canberra, where she now lives. The flowers, tableware, and decorative pieces that Dilukshi used to adorn her mantlepiece and dining table eventually found their home among the pages of her first visual storybook, Tablescape Narratives. The book is a showcase of talented artisans from Australia and Sri Lanka, and an homage to her mother, who she fondly refers to as the ‘original tablescaper’.
